I enjoy reading different diet books because I am usually able glean some new bit of information and apply what I learned to my own diet. Three of the more interesting bits of information I read were: 1. The book goes on to explain that this is due to the overfarming of land which depletes the soil of vital nutrients.

Stevia is the "best" sweetener to use as it "does not raise blood sugar levels or cause rapid-onset cravings the way simple sugars do. It has also been found to shrink the thymus gland and enlarge the liver and kidneys in rodents. I am a big Splenda user and as soon as I read this, I threw my whole bag out. Anyhow, this book is chock-full of this type of information before it actually goes into the "nitty gritty" of juice detoxing. As I mentioned before, this book is easy to read and all the information provided about juice detoxing was easy to understand.

Information about the different vegetables to use, which ones to buy organic, the actual day to day detox schedule, etc. The only negative aspect about this book, in my own personal opinion, is how the author goes on about the importance of regular enemas and colonics.

Either way, I believe that whether one chooses to undergo these procedures or not won't change the way this diet affects you physiologically. Would it help? But anytime you undergo something invasive i. Is infection likely if a colonic is performed by certified professionals? Probably not, but again, this is personal choice. I know of other oral colon cleansers out there that claim to have the same effect as a colonic, however, I am not sure how safe or effective these are either as I have never tried one.

All in all, this book inspired me to give juice detox a try. While on my search for the "best" juicer, I came across a documentary filmed by an Australian man called, "Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead. I recommend watching this if you can as a "supplement" to the book for inspiration and some more knowledge. And as a side note, at no point in the documentary does he undergo any colonics or enemas, lol.

So far I'm on day one of the program and plan to complete at least the 7 day program. At the end, I may continue on to the 21 day program depending how I feel. Hope this helps! This one is great because on numerous occasions in bookstores I have witnessed an everyday kinda person ask the bookseller for this book.

Thinking that they are going to go home, read the book, drink lots of water, eat lots of fruits and veggies and 21 pounds will disappear in 21 days. Well, let's just say there are coffee enemas and weekly colonics involved. I wish tha So I have this weird fascination with trendy "diet" books.

I wish that I could be a fly on the wall when these hopeful book buyers get home and start reading and realize I give it 4 stars, for this and this alone. Skinny Bitch is another great one. Cover of the book, title, and buzz gives no warning to what the book is really about--veganism.

Chapters on decaying, inhumanly treated farm animals, puss and various other joys to behold, all packaged in a hip, deceiving "diet" book. I loved it! As for colon cleansing It has been around for hundreds of years in Egypt. There are other ways to treat illnesses other than more medications. There are a lot of illnesses and aches and pains that can be cured in a natural way. Every negative comment I have read or seen so far are coming from people who haven't tried it, researched it, or even read the material in the book.

Why dont you all read up on the basic physiology of the kidney, liver, and lymph system. Right now I'm on my second turn. The first time I losed 20 pounds. As soon I started eating" normal" again I gained the weight back.

This is to be expected when you stuff everything in your mounth, without being concience about how to feed your body correctly. This time around I'm planning to follow the maintains plan. I have done the lemonade diet. This seems like a great idea to get involved with fresh fruits and veggies.

What better way to cleanse than that? For the people who hate the taste of the soup you can add maggi cubes along with black pepper. You can't go on on this over 21 days. So don't think of it as a diet, or use it as a diet. Use it as a regular seasonal detox for 3, 7 or 21 days or before you start a new diet that will help you lose weight.

This will give you a nice start for that kind of stuff and will help you keep your body "cleaner" year around. I did it once already this year, in January, for 7 days and it was very hard not to chew. I was not hungry, I lost 7 lbs in 7 days, I felt light and had great energy.
